Kyle grew up running a backhoe before most kids had a driver's license. With a family of excavators and outdoor contractors behind him, he learned early that hard work and honesty are the only things that hold up as long as a good retaining wall. He founded The Rock Guys of Washtenaw with a simple goal: build the kind of outdoor spaces he'd be proud to put his name on — and treat every homeowner's property like it was his own. Over the years, that approach has built something more valuable than any single project: a reputation that keeps customers coming back and sending their neighbors.

I would recommend them to anyone and everyone. I was in need of a company to excavate and rebuild retaining walls lining a driveway. I got quotes from several different companies and from the start felt the most comfortable with Kyle. On the first meeting he discussed options, what would work best for the space, and obstacles he would foresee in the job. He was very upfront and honest with the work to be done and his pricing. He gave very detailed info on how the original structure wasn't built for longevity and the additional work he would do to create a drain tile. Once the work started he was very open with the timeline. He updated us regularly and was very communicative. When the work was completed he was very thorough in explaining everything and offering future support if needed. I was interested in adding an above ground pool near our house; however we live on the top of steep hill - so a complex project. The Rock Guys to the rescue ! I worked with Kyle from start to finish assessing the site, then coming up with a 3D design draft of a concrete retaining wall to anchor the project. From trenching to rebar, installing forms and then concrete pumping over the house for a single solid stable pore, the project went great ! Once the concrete dried Kyle and the team were back to reshape and sculpt the dirt into a wonderful new and now useable back yard. Sod was then installed to protect from erosion. The end result is wonderful !!!

One of the difficulties in selecting a contractor is finding someone who not only is exceptionally skilled but also has a good work ethic—and Kyle Wheeler is that contractor. Kyle has an incredible skill set which enables him to meet the many needs of his clients. I have worked with Kyle for a number of years, and I never cease to be amazed at his ability to scope out, plan and complete a project. I live on a lake and have about 500 feet of shoreline which is constantly battered by jet skis and boat traffic. Kyle graded and redesigned the shoreline, reinforcing the many boulders which had failed. A picture of his work is on the website. Over the last three years, Kyle has been instrumental in redesigning my landscape and hardscape. He is extremely skilled in the geometry of design and troubleshooting problems. Kyle is the type of contractor who listens to his clients and thoughtfully does his utmost to meet their expectations.
